The Norkem team is travelling to one of the culinary capitals of Europe this spring to exhibit at the world’s premier nutraceutical trade show.
Our first appearance at Vitafoods Europe coincides with the event’s first visit to Barcelona, where 20,000+ delegates from across the global food and nutrition industries will congregate at the Fira Barcelona Gran Via exhibition centre from May 20 - 22.
With more than 1300 exhibitors confirmed across the three days and a jam-packed programme of speakers, networking events and awards, Vitafoods is the place to discover the latest innovations and trends in functional foods and make new connections right across the supply chain.
The growth of Vitafoods in recent years reflects the rise in prominence of nutraceuticals within the food and drink industry as producers look to meet consumer demand for healthy options that are still convenient and taste great. With increased awareness of the links between diet and health, manufacturers are looking for ingredients that add flavour, nutrition and additional health benefits.

Our food and drink division has certainly seen demand in this category take off and our first attendance at Vitafoods reflects how important this market has become to us. We will be showcasing our full food ingredients range at the event, with a particular focus on recent additions that fall under the functional umbrella.
This includes GOFOS, a plant-derived short-chain fructo-oligosaccharide (sc-FOS) prebiotic fibre that tastes 30% as sweet as plain sugar (GOFOS’s complex molecule indeed contains fructose chains). This makes GOFOS highly sought-after as an ingredient in baked goods, snack and energy bars, cereals and more, providing all the benefits of increased dietary fibre in terms of keeping the gut biome healthy, but delivering a pleasant sweet flavour profile too. And because fibre isn’t digestible, GOFOS has zero calories. Back of pack labelling is also straight forward with ‘dietary fibre’ being perfectly acceptable.
